Hi, I’m Daisy Ilchovska
I’m an MSc level educated (MSc in Personalised Nutrition), qualified and registered Nutritional Therapist, author of ‘Lyme in the Limelight’ and founder of Optimal Health Nutrition. I’m also a published researcher on the topic of Autoimmune Diseases with my latest research on the topic of An overview of the NF-kB mechanism of pathophysiology in rheumatoid arthritis, investigation of the NF-kB ligand RANKL and related nutritional interventions published in the December 2020 issue of Autoimmunity Reviews (available through this link).
I’m currently offering one to one online consultations nationally and internationally from my virtual clinic in sunny Bournemouth, Dorset.
I have a passion for helping people optimise their health via food, lifestyle and supplementation changes. For me good health and vitality are the foundations for a happy and purposeful life.
I originally gained a degree in Communication and Media and for over a decade worked as a Marketing Manager, before my own health journey led me to learn more about nutrition and its importance in health creation and leading a fulfilled life. At 26 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune condition, and told by doctors to expect to be disabled within the next eight years. Conventional medicine treats RA by strong immune suppressive drugs, which I took for years, but despite this the disease was progressing. Slowly, I started researching more broadly about nutrition and complimentary therapies and began applying my own research to my diet and lifestyle. I slowly got better, whilst reducing the medications.
In 2019 I also got bitten by a tick, which went undetected and I developed Neuroborreliosis, a neurological manifestation of Lymes Disease, which leads to a disorder of the central nervous system. It was another personal health crisis that I had to overcome with the help of conventional and complimentary medicine and nutrition. You can read more about Lymes Disease and how Nutritional Therapy can help here.
This is how through personal experiences and research, nutrition became a passion of mine, which led me to completing an MSc in Personalised Nutrition. As part of my master’s degree and clinical practice training, I learnt about evidence based scientific ways of applying nutrition and lifestyle changes to individual cases to address the underlying causes of imbalances in the body linked to disease and chronic illness.
I help clients with different health goals – from weight loss to optimising health and managing chronic and autoimmune conditions.
